Sunday Feast!
Boeuf Bourguignon
I’m studying for exams that are looming in May so I’m not doing much by way of cooking, or blogging about it at the moment sadly. I am managing to take a few photos* here and there and fortunately Paul is more than happy to ensure we don’t starve in the mean time. He got me Daniel Galmiche’s beautiful French Brasserie Cookbook at Christmas and made this delicious boeuf bourguignon from it the other night. It takes time and love and care and you have to skim all the foam - but it was worth it! I’m looking forward to getting back to making cakes soon though…
*I must acknowledge this is a truly terrible photo that doesn’t do the dish justice at all, apologies Paul!
If more of us valued food and cheer and song above hoarded gold, it would be a merrier world.
Perfectly Proportioned Pizza
One of my favorite things to make is home made pizza. I love the whole process from making the dough to tailoring the toppings to suit all preferences. It’s just so satisfying, and allows you to have as much tomato and cheese as you like! This creation was fairly simply, tomato, garlic, mozzarella, beautiful translucent circles of salami, some dollops of pesto which adds both colour & flavour topped off with a generous amount of fresh black pepper. A-mazing.
Pavlova
This was a light, fluffy, chewy, crispy delight! It was topped off with fresh cream & blueberries. One of the best things about making carbonara is that Paul has to do something to with the left over egg whites which usually results in macaroons or other such sweet delights. Apparently adding an equal amount of caster sugar & icing sugar to the egg whites is key.
